Despite student loans, scholarships and a part-time job, Julia does not make enough money to pay for her living expenses while she is a full-time undergraduate student.
Last year her financial situation qualified her for food stamps from the State of Michigan. She receives about $200 a month via her Bridge card to purchase groceries. Julia says this has really helped her monthly budget.
Though Julia could make more money at a different part-time job, she keeps her job as a photojournalist because she thinks it will prepare her best for her chosen profession.
Julia does worry about how she will repay all the loans she has had to take out for her degree and says that if she were to lose her food stamps she would most likely have to get a different job.
